Practical Experience
Gaining valuable exposure to the real world
A key element of Webster’s approach is our focus on hands-on practical knowledge as part of the learning experience. You don’t just study the theories … you get to see them - and put them - in practice.
- Case studies: Most classes include case studies where you examine current and significant historical issues faced by various companies and sectors. Discussing these issues in the international context of the class further adds to the learning experience.
- Practical projects: Your assignments will include different types of projects where you will apply the theory you have learned to real business situations. For example, finance students may develop an investment portfolio using the latest market tools available. Marketing students may develop strategies for real products – and even present their solutions to the company in question. Computer simulations also give you experience in business management.
- Guest speakers: Professors invite high-level outside speakers into the classroom to discuss relevant business issues. Speakers have included trade representatives, high-ranking business and marketing professionals, and UN ambassadors. Some classes also provide the opportunity to visit international corporations in the Geneva area.
-
Webster’s faculty: You will also gain exposure to the business world through your professors, most of whom are working professionals in various business areas. In addition to bringing their experience into the classroom, they can also provide information on current market trends and employment opportunities.
