Registration formalities
Registration forms must either be signed by your student advisor or supported by a study plan or similar document bearing your advisor’s signature. The same holds for drop/add and withdrawal forms.
Students currently attending Webster register for the upcoming session during their current session. You may register as early as week 7 though official registration starts on week 8 of term.
Drop/Add & Withdrawl
Students may add or drop a course with the approval of their academic advisor. They may drop classes through the end of the second week of the term. Students who do not submit signed drop/add forms by the deadline will be graded and charged according to their registration on file at the end of the official drop/add period. Merely informing the instructor of the intent to drop a class or not attending a class will not constitute an official change in registration.
All registration, drop/add and withdrawal forms must be presented to the Business Office before taken to the Registrar. Only forms stamped by the Business Office will be processed.
No registration form for Directed Studies, Reading Courses, Internships or thesis will be processed by the Registrar without the appropriate form..
Withdrawals
Students may withdraw from courses after the official drop/add period. Tuition waivers for withdrawals are made on a pro rata basis. Students may withdraw from courses up to and including Friday of the sixth week of an eight week course and the Friday of the twelfth week of a semester course. To withdraw, a student must submit a withdrawal forms signed by the advisor.
Student Permit:
Non-Swiss students are required to obtain a student residence permit from the appropriate Swiss cantonal authorities. Students on a resident permit must maintain fulltime status. To be classified fulltime, a student must register for a minimum of two or 6 credits per term. Registration for at least ten courses per year, and attendance in all class sessions are required. For additional information please refer to the Student Handbook, obtainable from Student Services.
Student Handbook:
A very useful guide full of important information and policies governing the duration of your enrolment at Webster University, prepared by the Student Services is the Student Handbook. Make sure you have your copy.
Student ID Card:
Student ID cards are issued by the Reception Desk located in the Administration Building. You must have a Webster ID card to borrow books from the Webster Library. ID cards enable discounts at some establishments and on the Swiss transport system.
Attendance As a general rule, students are expected to attend all class sessions of every course. In case of unavoidable absences, the student must contact the instructor. Absences due to illness must be reported to the Registrar and supported by a medical certificate. This is imperative in the case of foreign students who are in Switzerland for study purposes and hold a student residence permit.
