Degree with an area of emphasis

Specializing in Economics or Refugee Studies

You may choose to seek a BA in International Relations with an emphasis in either Economics or Refugee Studies.

The emphasis in Economics includes courses in international economic integration, the politics of international economic relations, and comparative economic systems.

The emphasis in Refugee Studies looks at migration, forced displacement, and humanitarian emergencies. It covers the historical, political, economic, legal, organizational, social, and humanitarian aspects of this complex phenomenon. International humanitarian practitioners, academics, and experts frequently serve as guest lecturers.

Note that you can alternatively complete a Certificate in Refugee Studies once you have completed your Bachelor’s degree.

“Being in Geneva, we have opportunities that are not available elsewhere, such as guest speakers, conferences, and seminars that are pertinent to what we’re learning. This means we get much more up-to-date information than from just reading text books.”

Anusha Sundaram, Undergraduate student, International Relations major
