Admission requirements
Webster’s MA in Counseling program is open to all people who meet Webster’s English-proficiency requirements and have a strong background in behavioral and social sciences, preferably in psychology.
This background can come from either a Bachelor degree in Psychology or its equivalent, or the equivalent professional experience and background.
Formal verification of competence in each of these areas (through, for example, a transcripted course or equivalent) is required:
- Human growth and development
- Psychology of learning and/or cognition
- Personality theory
- Abnormal psychology or psychopathology
- Social psychology
A working knowledge of statistical methods is also recommended.
If you do not have these undergraduate courses or their equivalents, your academic experience will be evaluated by an admission advisor and Webster's counseling faculty advisory committee.
Each applicant will have a personal interview prior to acceptance. You may be asked to complete additional coursework to meet admission requirements.
While professional experience is highly valued, applicants with the appropriate academic background do not need to have worked previously in order to enter the program.
