How can I break into the field of professional photography? What is it like to deal with private clients when creating and implementing a marketing campaign? How has the world of journalism really changed with the advent of new forms of communications? How can I best prepare myself for the evolving communications industry?

These questions and more were addressed by an enthusiastic panel of professionals from the Media Communications Industry who came to share their insights and experience with a group of over 100 Webster University students, faculty and staff.

The panelists came from a broad range of communications fields including Corporate PR, Advertising, Photography Agencies, Graphic Arts, Broadcast Journalism and Print Journalism. The panel members included:

• Peter Vickers, Head of Marketing, Eurovision
• Keith Stimpson, Senior Vice President for International Client Services, Weber Shandwick
• Fatoumata Lejeune-Kaba, Communications Officer, UNHCR
• Edward Girardet, Media21 Programme Coordinator
• Vivian Lee, founding partner and graphic designer, engage write & design
• Jean Revillard, founder and CEO, Rezo Online Photo Agency

The conference was organized by Webster’s Career Services and the Media Communications Department as part of an ongoing series of events tailored to bring working professionals to campus to share career insights with students.

This is the fourth professional panel to share insight with Webster students. Previous panels have come from business (ranging from huge multinational corporations to smaller, specialized enterprises), International Organizations (from the UN to smaller NGOs and non-profits), and Human Resources. After each panel, a networking session is held to give students the opportunity to individually meet panelists for further discussions.

These Career Events are held twice a year and reflect the commitment Webster has to balance theory and practice by bringing the real world of work to campus.
