Dr Jean E. Dumas (Research Faculty)
Jean Dumas is professor of developmental psychopathology at the University of Geneva, and a part-time researcher and professor at Webster University Geneva since 2008. He is the author of more than 100 articles and book chapters, as well as 4 books, mostly in the areas of childhood aggression, childhood anxiety, family relationships, psychopathology, and prevention. Before coming to Geneva he was for several years professor of clinical child psychology in Canada and the United States. He holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee, USA, and received his M.S. and B.S.Sc. in psychology from Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and a B. Div. in Theology from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. His interests include human aggression and anxiety; psychotherapy; prevention; empirical investigations of intervention efficacy and acceptability.
Dr. Patricia Esparza (Research Faculty)
Patricia Esparza earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois in 2009. Her research interests lie in examining the environmental stressors implicated in the development of mood disorders during key developmental transitions (e.g. early adolescence, and now in older populations). The aim in her survey research is to help prevent the development of mental illness during key points in our lifespan. On a broader level, she is also involved in a second line of research that investigates the utility of our current international classification of mental disorders across the world.
Dr Chitra Subrahmanian (Research Faculty)
Chitra Subrahmanian has been Adjunct professor at Webster University, Geneva since 2001. She teaches in the Undergraduate Psychology and Master's Counseling programs. She is also a part-time researcher at Webster and is currently involved with research on family rituals. In addition, she has a private practice catering to English-speaking individuals, couples and families in Geneva and surrounding areas. Prior to coming to Switzerland, she worked in India for 10years, first in the field of drug abuse and then in the field of HIV/AIDS. In 1993 she founded an NGO in Mumbai, India, which was one of the first to provide comprehensive counseling services to individuals, couples, families and communities affected by HIV. She also had a private psychotherapy practice and served as a consultant to the AGA Khan Educational Foundation in Mumbai. Dr. Subrahmanian completed her Ph.D. in 1993, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Purdue University, Indiana, USA. She holds a M.S. Ed. In Counselor Education from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, USA and a B.A. In Psychology and English Literature from Mumbai University, India.
